The English Bill of Rights was passed as an act in Parliament on December 16, 1689. This Bill created separation of powers, limited the power of the ruling monarchs (Kings and Queens), enhanced the democratic election and helped advocate for the freedom of speech. The Bill of Rights came after the bloody revolution where KIng james II was replaced by Mary (his daughter) and her husband William of Orange. This led to them ascending the throne and Parliament laid the foundation for a constitutional monarch and the rights of Parliament. This was a turning point of the future of the British Monarch for it guaranteed certain rights of the citizens of England from the power of the crown. The United States Bill of Rights was even modeled after the English Bill of Rights.
