His wife only communicates with him through lawyers now, and he’s not sure if it’s because of spite or his own misfortune that the arrival of their divorce papers falls on the day before the first thanksgiving he’s ever had to spend alone in an empty house. He passes them on to his lawyer. It’s going to take forever to get there, he knows, but it already feels like the end.
