At three months the embryo has become a fetus. At this time in the pregnancy the fetus us about 1–1.5 inches long. During this month then fingers and toes grow longer, and the umbilical cord connects the abdomen of the fetus to the placenta. Bones begin hardening, and skin and fingernails begin to grow. Th first three months you won’t gain much weight, only about 2 pounds. Most early pregnancy miscarriages happens in the first trimester. About 15 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriage during the first trimester.
