The Feudal system was finally abolished by the Constituent Assembly. Both Manorialism of the 2nd Estate and the gathering of tithes by the 1st Estate were abolished as well. Because of this, peasants did not have to be dependent on their lord and their land, as well as no longer had to pay the tithes to the church. Propositions such as equality of legal punishment and admission of all to public office were successful, taking away the special privileges of the aristocracy and provinces. These successful proposals are what made this abolition important, because the 3rd Estate got rid of the system that was suppressing their rights, which was their whole intention.
