Beschreibung:
King Alfonso XIII was the son of King Alfonso XII, who died in 1885. Alfonso XIII assumed full authority of the King at age 16 in 1902. Alfonso XIII wasn't a consistent leader however, jumping between a Liberal and Conservative government which caused political instability. There were 33 governments formed in Spain between 1902-1923. Due to this, his popularity went down and there were many assassination attempts that followed. Primo de Rivera took away the throne and started a 7 year long reign as a dictator. In 1930, Primo de Rivera lost his power and the King wanted his power back without the use of an election. Despite his wishes, an election was conducted where the Republican and Socialist parties won. The people soon called for his abdication and he gave up the throne on April 14, 1931.
