12 Apr 1876 Jahr - The Indian Act of 1876
Beschreibung:
The Indian Act of 1876 allowed the Canadian government
to have a bearing on the governance of Indigenous
people, their lands, reserves and more.
It only pertained to First Nations, excluding the Metis
and Inuit. The act also produced a partition within Indigenous
peoples as it established groupings of "status and non-status
Indians." A similar regard for Indigenous peoples can be found
in Rwandan history, where they failed to recognize
their Indigenous groups as their own, and which caused a
partition most prominently the Hutu and Tutsi.
