After Italy was in a state of political anarchy, Mussolini had said he was the only one who could bring the return of authority. So he was voted in. He was original Prime Minister but he soon dismantled all democratic institutions and became dictator in 1925, and Italy became a fascist dictatorship.

Causes:
1 - After World War 1, Italy had fallen into political chaos.

2 - People believed that he could solve the problems going on at the time.

Effects:
1 - Mussolini went on to regained land for Italy, and raised the economy.

2 - Sided with Hitler and assisted him in getting to power.
