The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed in Paris at the end of WW1 which codified peace terms between Britain, Italy, France and the US. It also punished Germany and make them take all of the responsibility for WW1 meaning they had to pay millions in reparations to France and Britain. When the treaty was drafted in the spring of 1919 the ‘Big 4’ (David Lloyd George of Britain, Vittorio Orlando of Italy, Georges Clemenceau of France, and Woodrow Wilson of the United States) made almost all of the decisions with the other countries didn’t have as much power. The Treaty of Versailles embarrassed Germany and didn’t resolve the underlying problems that had caused the war to break out in the first place.
