On September 5 - October 26, 1774 the First Continental Congress met at Carpenters Hall. It was also the seat of the Pennsylvania Congress.
All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates. These were elected by the people, by the colonial legislature or by the committees or by the correspondence of the representative colonies. They presented to show combined authority to Great Britain but it was not uniform at all. New York and Pennsylvania sent delegates with firm directions to start a revolution with England.
