The Cultural Activities and Property Committee was established in 1974. In 1977 it's responsibilities were split between the Cultural Activities and Health Committee and the Community Development, Housing and Property Committee.
Responsibilities (1975):
Plan and provide facilities for Cultural activities; pensioner housing; manage Council's properties including Administration buildings, halls, shops in parking buildings and transport terminal, service housing and Improvement Trust properties except workshops, service buildings and public utilities and excluding Tamaki War Memorial Hall; housing inspection and conservation and rehabilitation grants for existing housing stock; management of the Art gallery including the outreach programme; Libraries and the Town Hall.
