Johnson pushed Kennedy's Civil Rights Bill through Congress. It was officially called the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It stated that all citizens will have equal access to all public facilities. It forbidded discrimination in education. It also outlawed job discrimination based on race, sex, religion, or national origin.
