On January 29, 1845, Edgar Allen Poe released an American Gothic poem known as The Raven. The meaning behind the story is that you should let go, and that you can't hold on to everything you love forever. In the poem, the character is haunted by the death of his lover Lenore, and the raven at his chamber door is body of the depression in his mind.
