1 Jan 1956 Jahr - Indian Relocation Act

Beschreibung:

Before the Indian Relocation Act, most Indian people lived in poverty reservations. Once the Act was official it allowed Indians the ability to undergo educational training as well as acquire a small portion of the funding it would take to move from reservations to more urban areas. This was both a positive and difficult experience for many Indians. They were able to get real jobs which led to there own property and money. This brought on a sense of freedom that had previously been lacking. However, it was often difficult to leave ones family. Freedom was also an illusion as segregation was widespread, from schools to public buildings.
