The Gateway Housing Scheme for first home buyers was discontinued. The Scheme had allowed first home buyers to defer payment on government-owned land for up to ten years. The Gateway Housing Scheme had been launched in October 2010.
Under the scheme only 32 houses were built nationwide, with 17 of these in the Hobsonville development in Auckland.
