- Overthrow the system of Government under the Directory
- Sieyes voted t have both ancients and lower house meet in Saint-Cloud, this was to evade a "Jacobin Plot",in reality it was to put both councils in a convenient site away from Paris and under the intimidation of Napoleon and his army
- Napoleon made a speech before the ancients but was met with a storm of abuse from the council of 500
- Deputies sensed hat the real plot was brewing with troops outside
- Sieyes, Lucien Bonaparte and Joachim retrieved the situation by sending in Grenadiers, dissovling the Council of 500 and forced the ancients to decree the end of the Directory
