- Meant there was an enemy force in Paris
- Only 5,000 men to resist 30,000 Royalists
- National Guard entered Paris on 12 Vendemiaire in the evening they timidly advanced forward, inviting rebels to dismiss terms of dispersal. Guard withdrew after promise of dispersal
- Republican forces were outnumbered 6 to 1
- At the close 300 Royalists lay dead
- 13 Vendemiaire marks the end of Revolution
- Vendemiaire defeat extinguished Royalist threat to Convention
