-The Indian Act Affected the First Nations by assimilating them. Their collective rights were taken and required to ask the government to do certain things
- they needed permission from the government to wear traditional clothing. They banned traditional ceremonies, such as the Sundance of the Siksika. Prevented first nations from taking political actions. They needed to give up their legal identity and treaty rights to gain the right to vote.
