22 Sept 1906 Jahr - Atlanta Race Riot
Beschreibung:
A newspaper report of four alleged rapes of local white women by black men sparked fear and rage in whites across Atlanta. Mobs of white men and boys gathered in retaliation beating stabbing and shooting blacks along the way as they terrorized black-owned businesses and homes. The death toll is disputed; sources claim anywhere from 12 to 30 and maybe more blacks were killed. The violence died down and finally came to an end on September 24th, two days later.
