Tower bridge is one of the calling cards of London and Britain as a whole on a par with Buckingham Palace and the Ferris wheel "London eye". The age of the structure exceeded a hundred years. Construction of the bridge, later called the tower, began in 1886 and lasted eight years. During this time, participation in the process has taken five major contractors: D. Jackson, Baron Armstrong, William Webster, H. Bartlett and W. Arora. 432 people were involved in the construction. The total cost of the bridge at the time was 1 184 thousand pounds. The construction took more than 11 thousand tons of steel.
