This was an American social movement against the consumption of alcohol. It was deviant because during this time nearly everyone drank, and it was strange for someone to suggest that they stop. The goal was to stop people from drinking altogether, and have better education on the effects of alcoholism. They faced hate from society. Their campaign led to a 13 year period of prohibition and a negative view of drunkenness.
