1 Jan 1833 Jahr - University of Durham
Beschreibung:
The University of Durham was founded in 1832 and is the third oldest university in England (arguably). While theological teaching began under Henry VIII and it did receive some status in 1657 from Oliver Cromwell's "letters patent," Durham did not become an officially recognized university until 1832 due to concern expressed by Oxford and Cambridge. Additionally, until the passing of the University Test Act in 1871, only members of the Church could study for a degree at the University of Durham (“A History").
