McKeesport Area School District is hit with criticism that they "don't want to hire more Black teachers." The board's president collects data that shows MASD is tied for fourth in the county in employment of black teachers. Pittsburgh Public leads Allegheny county with 671 Black teachers, Woodland Hills with 46, Wilkinsburg with 43 and McKeesport with 17. The president of the McKeesport Area boards states the statistics unlinderline the difficulties every school district has in finding "qualified Black teachers, they just aren't there." The president of the McKeesport chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People replies "Bull." The NAACP found eight Black candidates who applied for jobs in the district yet only one was hired.
