30 Sept 1950 Jahr - Korea controlled by the Northern Communists

Beschreibung:

After WW2, Korea was split on the 38th parallel. The North was communist with a leader who had been trained in the USSR. The South was anticommunist causing them to win the support of the USA.
There was bitter hospitality between North and South and by September 1950, the North had invaded the South and were in control of almost all of it.
President Truman saw this an example of the "DOMINO" effect and how communism would spread, so he had to contain it. However, he was only able to send warships to the surrounding seas but not take action as that would be an act of war.
Truman put pressure on the UN Security council to act as the US was the largest contributor to the UN budget. Normally, if invasion was suggested, the USSR could use it's power of VETO to stop them. However, the USSR was boycotting the security council for unrelated reasons meaning the US could claim their invasion of Korea as UN-sponsored. Though Soviet media claimed otherwise.
