1 Jan 1345 Jahr - Petrarch's Discovery of Cicero's Letters
Beschreibung:
Petrarch's discovery of the ancient Roman orator Cicero's letters provoked a profound interest in Classical studies in Florence. Other scholars wanted to be like Petrarch, and society discovered that the Romans were excellent artists, architects, engineers, shoemakers, winemakers, etc. These Classical techniques would later be used by Brunelleschi in building the Pantheon-styled Duomo of Florence. Essentially, this rediscovered represented "waking up the dead" and the beginning of humanism.
