The Little Rock Nine was a group of African American students, who were used to begin the integration process of public school systems. They became students at Central High School in Arkansas, Kansas after the Brown v. Board of Education decision. This decision allowed them to go to Central High School in the first place, seeing as it was formerly an all white school. Governor Orval Faubus attempted to block the students from entering Central High School every day, but President Dwight D. Eisenhower began sending in the National Guard to personally escort the students and make sure no harm came to them while they were in school as well. A major effect of this event would that it inspired many other black communities to send their children into all white schools to further speed along the integration process while also solidifying the fact that the Supreme Court made the correct decision in their case of Brown v. Board of Education.
