Chadwick's report shocked Britain, over 10,000 free copies were handed out to anyone who could change public opinion and 20,000 more were sold to the public.
He mistakenly believed in miasma theory which didn't really matter because her highlighted the need for cleaner streets and a clean water supply.
It showed that people were wrong in thinking that the poor were to blame for bad housing and living conditions.
