Beschreibung:

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church was built in 1860. The architect for St. Matthew’s Church was Richard Upjohn; and it is a graceful example of his mid-19th century, wooden, board and batten, Gothic design. Listed on the National Register of Historical Buildings, St. Matthew’s also has the distinction of containing the smallest tracker organ designed for a public building by Lane Organ Co. In 2017, the people of St Barnabas Church, Augusta formally joined our congregation and we were recognized as The Episcopal Church of Sts Matthew and Barnabas at the 198th Convention.

For more than fifty years we’ve been particularly blessed by our small but mighty choir! Currently we are graced with talented musicians: instrumentalists, soloists, and cantors.  We most often sing in four parts, and we enjoy chanting the psalms. With the leadership of the choir we have strong congregational participation in the singing of hymns and service music, which enhances our joy in worship of God each Sunday.
