15 Jan 1775 Jahr - Thomas Paine's "Common Sense"
Beschreibung:
This was a pamphlet published on January 15, 1776 by colonist Thomas Paine. It was a direct attack on British authority, and questioned what gave the monarchy of Britain the right to rule the Americas. In other words, why should a small island over the sea legislate for the colonies. The pamphlet used the common language of the people, which was significant because it then could appeal to far more people than before. It was also the first thing that explicitly requested independence from the British, causing waves and turning heads toward the revolutionary war.
