24 März 1774 Jahr - Intolerable Acts

Beschreibung:

Also called the Coercive Acts, these were a collection of four legislatures passed by the British Parliament in 1774 as a punishment for the colonial actions. One of the most major of these passings was the Boston Port Bill, which shut down the harbor until they paid back for the thousands upon thousands of lost tea from the Tea Party. As further punishment, there was the Massachusetts Government Act, which effectively removed the self-governing abilities of the colonies. Thirdly, there was the Administration of Justice Act, which allowed British officials who had incurred capital offenses to receive trial in England or another colony. The fourth and final act was the Quartering Act of 1774, which gave to British officers the right to inhabit any unoccupied buildings in the colonies. This was the British attempt to reinstate its power, but it only served to give the colonists the last push towards war, causing the meeting of the First Continental Congress the same year.
