Beschreibung:

Schwann was a German microscopist. He was born on December 7, 1810, in Neuss, Prussia. Schwann studied at the University of Bonn and University of Wurzburg as a medical student. He discovered pepsin the substance responsible for digestion. His book with his adaption of the cell theory with animal cells was published during his first year as a professor at the Catholic University of Leuven. Schwann later was a professor at the University of Liege and never left for the remainder of his career. Schwann also coined the term metabolism for the chemical reaction in living organisms and tissues.
