1 Jan 1810 Jahr - Sandalwood Trade

Beschreibung:

Although Sandalwood was sold to fur traders before 1810, the trade of Sandalwood began to take off starting in 1810 due to dropping fur prices. Kamehameha I held a monopoly on the sandalwood trade and regulated the collection of it. However, after the death of Kamehameha I, his son, Kamehameha II, became indebted to the sandalwood traders which eventually led to depletion of sandalwood and the collapse of the sandalwood trade in 1830. The sandalwood trade allowed for Kamehameha to aquire western goods and firearms which helped with his unification of the islands.
