On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the first people to set foot on the moon. This was six years after President Kennedy declared that an American will step on the moon by 1970. This was the day of Armstrong’s famous quote, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” On this day, the US won the Space Race. For this reason, the moon landing is marked blue.
