29 Jan 2009 Jahr - Obama signs the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which supports equal pay regardless of race, sex, or age.

This was the first bill signed by Obama.
This act allows people who face discrimination to seek rectification under federal anti-discrimination laws
It also clarifies that discrimination on age, race, religion, sex, and disability is deemed discriminatory.

The importance of this is that it was a step for equal pay for women and people of color, Unfortunately, women especially people of color still get pay less then the white man does
