Beschreibung:

Summary: Story follows the last day of Oscar Grant, a 22 year old black man from the Bay Area, and the events that led to his premature death.

Racism: True- story that highlights the issue of police brutality that African- Americans face today. A fight occurred on a subway and Oscar and his friends were detained fro their involvement. Shouting between the cops and the group of black friends ensues. As they attempt to hand-cuff Oscar, one of the officers pulls out his gun and shoots him in the back. There are civilians watching and recording this incident on their phones, and they are shocked and appalled at what they just witnessed. The thing I like about this movie is that they don't make Oscar's character seem perfect and innocent. He exposes some of his many flaws throughout the movie which makes his character seem more human, and makes it more emotional at the end. In a lot of these other movies, the main black character is super wholesome and nice and has to overcome the oppression and racism from all the white people. This movie is different, and so important in our time now because police brutality is the most common form of racism that is experienced.
