Los Centros Clandestinos de Concentracion served as torture centers for the victims of the "Dirty War".

Prisoners were blindfolded and taken to these locations. Often they woke in chains from heavy sedation.

Torture was generally conducted by low ranking military and police members - the arms of a larger mechanism. Often those persecuted were innocents or leftist sympathizers who had no understanding of the topics which the military wanted to better understand through interrogation. Parents were sequestered and prodded for information on their revolutionary children. Relatives were hounded for secret intelligence. Anti-military individuals were subjected to questioning about people they never knew and larger conspiracies that were too risky to exist or too important to reveal.

The general methods of torture and interrogation included strapping the victim to a metal table or chair; yelling insults or threats; throwing buckets of water onto blinded faces; pouring gasoline into open orifices like the ears, nose, and mouth; zapping sensitive areas like eyelids with the electric prod; physical aggression; and psychological manipulation.

According to the accounts of one woman during a later trial that attempted to incriminate military officials, torture was not always conducted for information. She recounts how the military men in charge of a torture cite were having a barbeque. As entertainment, they picked out a man and subjected him to great violence. They ran an electric current through his testicals and blugened him severely. All this was so that he would verbally admit that his mother was a "grandisima puta come-mierda".
