On April 1, 1945 the Battle of Okinawa was won by the United states which resulted in the United States realizing how bloody the invasion of Japan would be. The Battle of Okinawa resulted in the deaths of around 150,000 people and was one of the bloodiest battle in the Pacific theater during World War 2.
