1 Jan 1951 Jahr - The electric bass guitar was invented.
Beschreibung:
Stand-up bass fiddles are part of early rock's iconography, but the giant instruments weren't very practical for traveling musicians. In the mid-1930s Paul Tutmarc, a Seattle musician and inventor, built what is considered the first solid-body electric bass guitar, the Audiovox 736. It was known as the electric bass fiddle and wasn’t fretted and hung like a guitar. It flopped, but in 1951, Leo Fender's famous Precision bass hit the market. This guitar was fretted and hung like a normal guitar, and was a huge hit. The days of the "dog house" bass were numbered.
