In late May of 2015 Ottoman legislation passed a bill to move and deport the Armenians to camps the Mountains and desert. During the rounding of up of Armenians, the ottomans shot them stole their belongings. Along the marches, if people stopped to take a break or passed out they were shot on the spot. They were given almost no food or water and most died from hunger or lack of water. The concentration camps if they Armenians made it there were just as brutally and many died from heat stroke and heat exhaustion in the desert sun. It is estimated that roughly 600,000 to 1,500,000 died along the marches and the rest died in the camps. Also, other forces such as the Kurds would carry out mass murders of the Armenians set up by military officials. These mass muders and marches carreied all the way to 1916 before the ottoman surrender in 1917.
