The Rosenberg family, led by Julius Rosenberg, was a family of people who were supposedly passing secrets to the Soviet Union. The real problem with this that most of the world quickly noticed was the fact that Julius himself was involved with the Manhattan Project. This involvement most likely eventually led him to pass secrets of the Atomic Bomb to the USSR, which is how they could have gotten the information and secrets so quickly. This furthered the Cold War because it showed in the crimson that communists in America were real, they were here, and anybody could be passing secrets to the Soviets.
