When the revolution began and the political structure of France was altered, Nobles fled the country to Austria and threatened France with invasion. As a preemptive strike and a way to unite the country and spread their new ideas of equality across Europe, France declared war on Austria. A few weeks after the declaration of war, Prussia joined Austria in the fight against France.
