Khairys and Pra'et were twins born to a highborn Elven family, who were raised to be perfect soldiers for the Nyfarium royal guard. They rose quickly through the ranks, proving their skill at every turn, until they were asked to safeguard a royal scholar who was making a voyage to the Fracture. By all accounts, the scholar himself was never seen again, but when Khairys and Pra'et returned, they had changed drastically.

Khairys had sprouted feathered wings, and her eyes shone a bright light. Pra'et had grown large horns and a forked tail, and his skin had turned a bloody red. Both had grown in height, towering over most, and simply being in their presence was awe-inspiring. Upon hearing of these twins, High Lord Veolsarus requested them personally to his demesne, where they spent several hundred years serving the court as judge, jury, and executioner. Their lives were cut short when Khairys fell victim to an assassin's poison, and Pra'et killed himself in distress, after finding and brutally murdering the man who had done the deed.
