Natural selection is the idea that humans as a race have grown and evolved via the failure and subsequent dying out of undesirable physical traits, a process which took millions of years and generations. This theory went against the common religious beliefs of the time and proposed an origin story that was strictly biological, which would later become the basis for a large portion of modern science.
