In November of 1916, middle-class political reformers gathered in Santiago de Querétaro for the Constitutional Convention. The Constitution is similar to the United States’ and stated Mexican human rights, outlined citizenship requirements, explained the federal system of government, and established the government and social welfare system. It was signed into law in 1917.
