Was known as Saint Nicholas the Passion-Bearer. He was given the nickname Nicholas the Bloody. Soviet historians portrayed Nicholas as a weak and incompetent leader. He's important because he was the one calling the shots in Russia. We should care because without him Russians would not have revolted and showed the need for change.
