The first Olympic Games took place in 776 BC in the Greek City State of Olympia. The tradition would continue every 4 years until it was eventually outlawed during the Middle Ages along with other "Pagan festivals". The tradition would be resurrected in Athens in 1896 and results in the modern Olympic games.
