The earliest signs of advanced civilization in Greece date back to the late Bronze Age. This era of Ancient Greece was known as the Mycenaean Era (named after the city of Mycenae, the first city of the era that was discovered). The Mycenaean era came to an end around 1100 BC during the mysterious Bronze Age Collapse.
