The Abolition of the Slave Trade Act was written on this day, however, though this act made it illegal to participate in the slave trade, it continued in the Caribbean until 1811. Also, the trading of slaves was banned, not the practice of slavery, which continued independently for some time within the British Empire. (4.2)
