16 Apr 1943 Jahr - LSD
Beschreibung:
Originally discovered in 1938 but discarded without consequence, LSD was re-synthesized by the Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann, who was accidentally exposed on April 16th, 1943, 3 days before the celebrated “bicycle day” among acid-heads. Feeling sick, he headed home on his bike, laid down, and the drug hit him unexpectedly, to which he reported an “...uninterrupted stream of fantastic images of extraordinary vividness accompanied by an intense, kaleidoscope-like play of colors.” On the following Monday morning, Albert intentionally took what should have been a miniscule quantity of LSD: 250μg, or a quarter-milligram, and for a time felt nothing. Afraid he may have seriously made a mistake, he went home on his bike, and was hit with the effects suddenly while in transit, marking April 19th as “bicycle day”. Unbeknownst to Hofmann, what he took was an exorbitant amount, 5 to 10 times what would be reasonable today, with LSD being the #1 king of all hallucinogens known to man. The scientific reports bred a significant degree on interest in 1947, in more than just daytrippers looking to experiment: the CIA took interest.
