17 Jan 1600 Jahr - Tokugawa shogunate (1600 C.E.-1867 C.E.)
Beschreibung:
The Tokugawa Shogunate was a period of time when the Tokugawa family was in line for the shogun position in Japan. Basically, a shogun ruled over the land and was basically an emperor The emperor was just a figurehead, and actually had barely any militaristic and political power. The Tokugawa shoguns, in particular, wanted to stabilize the realm and prevent more civil war, as Japan had been in conflict for a long period of time. They also learned how to use and manufacture gunpowder weapons, which in turn strengthened their military and navy. Finally, they were known for keeping their Daimyo (the ruler of an area of land) in the court building for long periods of time, to prevent uprisings. (4.3)
