The Ottoman Dynasty was one of the longest lasting dynasties in the history of civilization. The dynasty was very well known for its conquering, under Mehmed II and especially Suleiman the Magnificent. Their military was extremely powerful, mostly because of their effective use of gunpowder. Although they forced Islam onto their people fairly constantly, they benefitted many Christian areas by bringing peace and stability. The decline was mostly due to incompetent rulers, but also religious tensions, which had a large effect on the government. (4.3)
